Harambee Family Academy is recognized as a center of excellence and a strong collaborating partner with parents, school district, and community stakeholders that are critical to our children’s success.
We are licensed by the State of New Jersey, accredited by the National Association of the Young Child (NAEYC), and contracted as a private preschool provider by the East Orange (NJ) Board of Education.

Our COVID-19 Response
Our COVID-19 Response
Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our children, families and staff. That’s why we have implemented policies and procedures to help keep our school as clean and germ-free as possible.
Harambee follows the COVID-19 guidance and directives from the NJ State Department of Health, NJ Department of Children and Families, and the East Orange School District, which include the following health and safety measures:
- Staggered morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up times to help maintain appropriate social distancing during high-traffic times
- Daily health screenings and temperature checks required for entrance
- Masks required of parents, staff and children at all times
- Frequent handwashing throughout the school day for staff and children
- Various in-classroom safety measures: assigned seating; plexiglass barriers on tables; social distancing observed in classrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces; and no mixing of class groups
- No sharing of classroom supplies or food
- Rigorous cleaning routine, and all high-touch surfaces and objects sanitized daily
